Sustainability at Purple Pear

“Our buying power is your saving power!”

As we say in this business,

“At Purple Pear Pallets, we are often asked, “What is the life expectancy of a timber pallet”?

There are a number of views with regards to the life of a pallet, some say 3 years others say 5 usage cycles. Our response is “We Don’t Know”. However, we do explain that the life expectancy of a repaired timber pallet is immeasurable.

Why? Every damaged part of timber pallet can be removed and replaced, the only barrier is the economical one.

Even when this point is reached, some parts can be salvaged and the cycle continues.

Now when you take into consideration the cost of replacing damaged with new pallets.

Compare that to the cost of a repair, which could be as little as 25% of a new pallet.

This commitment of maintaining the serviceability of a timber pallet, also reduces the impact of our natural resources.

Purple Pear’s ethos is one that adopts the circular economy as a more sustainable method compared to the linear economy.”

Reduce Waste
Repaired pallets help keep wood waste out of landfills, contributing to a cleaner environment.
Lower Carbon Footprint
Reusing materials reduces the need for new timber and decreases carbon emissions from manufacturing.
Support Circular Economy
Our pallet repair business keeps products in circulation longer, cutting down the need for new resources.

A Circular Economy in Action

We’re proud to align with Victoria’s long-term sustainability vision. The Victorian Government’s Circular Economy Plan calls for less waste, more recycling, and better use of materials. At Purple Pear, we contribute by:

Repairing and reusing pallets to reduce the need for new timber

Recovering usable parts from unrepairable pallets

Keeping materials in use for as long as possible

This aligns with the Circular Economy Act 2021, as well as Sustainability Victoria’s SV2030 strategy, which aims to build a low-emissions, climate-resilient future.

Reusing or recycling 100 pallets in a month prevents roughly 2.81 metric tons of CO₂ emissions.
